International/NAFTA (ongoing)
Represents Canadian corporation in multi-million dollar claim against the Republic of Mexico under NAFTA (the North American Free Trade Agreement). Claim concerns the Mexican government closure of three casinos operated by client.

Business Fraud and Breach of Fiduciary Duty
Successfully defended individual and corporate clients in multi-million dollar claim involving alleged fraud and breaches of fiduciary duty in the food-diverting business. Case involved a complex two-year business relationship and a series of significant financial transactions.

E-commerce, Unfair Business Practices
Represented San Diego e-commerce company in action involving claims of unfair business practices and misappropriation of trade secrets brought by competing business. After mediation, the case resolved successfully.

Business Fraud
Represented concert violinist in dispute over ownership of rare Italian violin. Seller of the violin accused client of fraud and misrepresentation in connection with purchase of the violin by client. Seller sought return of the violin. After a four- day trial, jury rejected fraud claims and refused to order return of the violin.

Partnership Dissolution
Represented client in multi-million dollar dispute over ownership and operation of storage facility in Ukiah, Ca. Dispute involved three separate lawsuits spreading over four years. Dispute resolved favorably through multiple multi-day mediation sessions.

Wrongful Employee Termination
Represented a man terminated by a national food chain after 28 years of employment for alleged fraud. Client sued for wrongful termination. After extensive litigation, client received significant recovery.

Contract Disputes (ongoing)
Represents client in dispute over contract for construction of multi-million dollar commercial fishing vessel.

E-commerce and Trade Slander
Represented San Diego company in case involving slanderous statements made over the Internet. Client sued for defamation and unfair business practices. Defendant, a competing business located in Florida, challenged client's right to sue in federal court in California. Successfully defended challenge, relying upon emerging e-commerce case law.

Civil Rights
Represented woman in civil rights action against the City of Oceanside and Oceanside Police Department arising from an illegal search of client's home by police. After a four-day trial, jury awarded $150,000 in damages and found the officers involved guilty of "fraud, oppression and malice".

Personal Injury and Government Liability
Represented man stricken with polio in action against United States Government. Client acquired disease after having contact with child recently vaccinated with live oral polio vaccine. Client alleged the government has violated its own regulations in release of live vaccine. Federal appellate court upheld client's right to sue and case resolved favorably.

Serious Personal Injury
Represented small girl who suffered permanent facial wounds in attack by pit bull terrier. Case resulted in significant monetary settlement involving regular payments over the course of child's life.

Indian Gaming
Successfully represented Canadian corporation in series of multi-million dollar actions against California Indian Tribes concerning leases of gaming equipment.
